Many retirees dreamed of spending their golden years in Florida, enjoying its warm climate and beautiful beaches. Miami Beach was a popular spot for retired singles who had honeymooned there decades earlier and then decided to make it their permanent home. Corey went down there for two weeks to visit her aunt Cecil’s new hotel home.
SHE found the remains of the art deco buildings from the late 50s and 60s , which was a vibrant, colorful, and glamorous place to live. The city's architecture was characterized by bold geometric shapes, pastel colors, and intricate details that exuded opulence and luxury. The streets were filled with stylish cars, fashionable people, and bustling nightlife. 1950's. The once vibrant community had aged along with its inhabitants. The dream of retiring in Florida had lost it's luster, as many retirees struggled to make ends meet on fixed incomes while facing rising healthcare costs.
